On 10th September 1756, Marquês de Pombal created a demarcated and regulated region of the world: the Douro Vinhateiro.

In 2014, 258 years later, it is officially instituted on 10th September as the International Port Wine Day. It is born from the desire to celebrate Port Wine and party with more and more people, in an even better way.

To celebrate this day, the Institute of Douro and Porto Wines, IP, organizes annually, since 2014, the Porto Wine Day®: an event that brings together journalists from all around the world in Porto, joins the best wine producers of Porto, organizes exclusive selections tastes with innovative wines and seminars and still infuses a city and all its inhabitants with Porto Wine’s spirit.

This event, that is now starting for its sixth edition, have been growing and increasingly impacting, not only in the specialized sector (journalists, producers and Horeca channel), but also in the non-specialized sector (general consumer public).
